What do you do?

I keep hearing people who are working remotely say they miss the “connection” with others that happened naturally when they all worked in person. They don’t get to know others like they used to because they don’t have the unplanned interactions and casual conversations that occurred in the workplace throughout the day. They miss overhearing a chance bit of info that would trigger a thought or give them insight into who a person really is, and so much more.
So, I have a question for you:
What do you do remotely, or what have you experienced, that improves connections with colleagues, team members, direct reports? What about when you haven’t worked with them before?
