Your team can be even better

In past weeks, I’ve been talking about virtual teamwork. I know for some, managing a virtual team comes naturally. For others, there are challenges. But for all who are willing to put in the extra effort and ask different questions in these different times, and truly listen to the responses, this is a time of deeper and broader understanding for the whole team.

Regardless of where you fall on this spectrum, I think you might enjoy this podcast, which really hit home for me: FIVE DYSFUNCTIONS OF A VIRTUAL TEAM

It’s Patrick Lencioni, author of Five Dysfunctions of a Team, and some of his team, talking about overcoming the dysfunctions virtually. There’s such good content in it, I wanted to share it with you. (A few of you have already received it from me. You may want to pass it on.)

They talk about overcoming the LACK or FEAR of: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, Results.

You’ll hear examples of what can be done to:
-build trust
-encourage conflict (when it’s OK for your team to disagree with you, real breakthroughs can emerge)
-commit to the pursuit of truth
-hold each other accountable
-pay attention to the team’s collective results

You have a choice to come out of this unusual season with a stronger or weaker team. You have a window of opportunity to work on your team’s cohesiveness. Why not take full advantage of it? Maybe have them listen to this and then discuss it.
