Are phantom rules running or ruining your teams? Last week I asked you to think about your own phantom rules. Your unspoken guide lines that affect your decision making. We all have them, adopted or absorbed throughout life to thrive, maybe to survive.

Phantom rules guide our views, our decisions, our actions. Today, I want you to think about phantom rules that guide your teams. What do you think they are? Are they invigorating or hampering the team’s decisions?

A team’s phantom rules can strengthen or inhibit communication, creativity, camaraderie. Getting them to talk about what their unspoken rules are could be eye-opening for all. It could unblock some clogs. Open up new thinking. Even help them soar.
