This is #3 in my four-part series on four pillars of excellent leadership: Listen Thoughtfully, Question Deeply, Develop Mindfully, Refuel Quietly.
Develop mindfully is a deep topic to cover in a short message. But here we go…
Develop mindfully is what you do when you intentionally stretch your thinking about what you want. You choose to focus on your growth rather than just doing, doing, doing without giving thought to the impact it could possibly have on your future direction.
It is going within to fully understand what is important to you. Seeing in your mind’s eye what you want to achieve. Exploring potential paths to get there.
It is shifting your perspective to view people and things differently. Advancing through the fog when your path is not clear. Growing in wisdom as you learn from experience.
Develop mindfully is using what you know to think strategically about what is possible. Yes, it requires time and effort, and it can be freeing. Though strategic thinking about oneself is not the norm for many, I love helping people see how their experience, knowledge, expertise and interests create a unique mosaic. This elevates their thoughts about their possibilities and inspires them to move forward with positive energy.
Leaders who develop mindfully and add positive action are unstoppable in their growth. It’s a powerful combination.
You can develop mindfully on your own. You can do it with assistance. You can do it in any way that works for you. The key is doing it.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said: What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
If you want to talk about developing mindfully for you, let’s schedule a call. It would be an honor to help you develop this life changing behavior.
