Great leaders are thoughtful and responsive, not impulsive and reactive. They are trusted… the backbone of every company. They grow by learning from their experiences as well as others’ and are proud to be continuous learners. The best leaders are continuous learners! They know what they know and are open to learning about what they don’t.
A CEO said, “I’m not the smartest in this company. That’s why I have good, smart people working here. Together we make the difference we want to make.”
They are self-aware. Another CEO acknowledged he’s a thoughtful leader, an introvert, loves his work and relishes his time to think in the quiet early morning hours. He believes more than half the CEOs in this country are Introverts. I believe it, too.
Thoughtful leaders at every level see things from different viewpoints, ask questions that may not otherwise be asked. They’re considerate of others, ambitious in their desire to do what’s right, do their best.
They consider others’ perspectives, enabling them to get along with those whose views are different from theirs. They thrive when the people working with them grow. And they willingly share the spotlight.
These are the people I love working with… and because Thoughtful Leader is a better descriptor than Quiet Leader for many I’ve coached (and look forward to coaching), I’ve updated my title to The Thoughtful Leader Coach. Because many have said, “I enjoy quiet time to think, but I’m not quiet!” So… for all who’ve said that… I’ve listened and decided to change.
If you’re thinking about how you’d like to grow, I have a couple of slots opening this Fall. Let’s schedule a call to talk about the difference coaching could make for you.
