2025 things to let go

Taking my own advice to look back to plan forward, I found a blog I wrote in 2012 titled “1,940 things to go.” My commitment was to let go of 2012 things that year. We were surprised we didn’t miss what we gave away and tossed. Our reminder throughout the year was the polka dot spiral pad on the kitchen counter for tracking everything we removed from this house. It helped!

I was thinking last week that a clean out this year would be a good thing. Unclutter to open up space for good energy to flow. Yesterday, I saw an angel that’s been sitting on a shelf in a closet for years. I used to have it on display because it was a gift, but that was years ago. If giving it away could bring joy to someone else, that’s what I should do. It will be my #1 giveaway. There’s more in drawers, on shelves, hanging, and tucked away in boxes that has to go.

Let it go, let it go.

The responses to my 2012 message let me know some people were going to do it, too. Yesterday, I sent a friend what she wrote, thinking she’d get a chuckle out of it. She replied that she’s already started it for 2025! She had the same thought that it’s time to do what she did 13 years ago. This time, though, she’s going to count every list she unsubscribes from. I’m going to count old Word docs I decide to delete. Let the old clutter go. But hold onto important docs, of course.

I told my husband about it, and he’s on board. He wants to clean out his space, including the garage.

I think we’ll create a pad cover that suits the mood for 2025. No need to buy a new one when I have pads in a drawer that needs cleaning out.
